Jazz Lamp by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche for PAF Studio

Designed 1989
No longer in production

Ferdinand Alexander Porsche was a German automotive and industrial designer, best known as the designer of the first Porsche 911. His Jazz lamp features an extendable body, and must have been a favorite of Trek production designers, as it was used in at least on Star Trek film and several series. It’s pictured here in The Undiscovered Country, in the Starfleet Command conference room, The Next Generation episode, “The First Duty,” in Wesley Crusher’s room at Starfleet Academy, the Voyager episode, “Ex Post Facto,” on the Banea homeworld, the Enterprise episodes, “Horizon,” in Ensign Mayweather’s quarters on his family’s freighter, and “First Flight,” in the NX project hangar, and, in cartoon form, in the Lower Decks episode, “The Stars at Night.”

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
