My Collection

Identifying the objects used across the Star Trek series and films is my favorite hobby, and I use Star Trek + Design as a platform to publish my findings. What I don’t post about very often in that I’m also a collector! This page is to showcase the objects used in Star Trek that I’ve acquired so far. When I began collecting, I was pretty indiscriminate about the objects I purchased, so long as they fit my apartment’s aesthetic and were used in any Trek series. Nowadays, I focus primarily on collecting objects used in TNG.

Bistro Cups designed by Carsten Jorgensen for BodumUsed in The Next Generation, Voyager, and Picard These are the first design objects used in Trek that I purchased in 2018. I have a set of eight.

Jerba Dessert Cups by Bormioli RoccoUsed in Deep Space Nine and Voyager These dessert cups were used as drinking glasses in both DS9 and Voyager. I use them for the same, but they are very heavy and not great for if you’re, say, walking around at a cocktail party. I have two.

AJ Flatware designed by Arne JacobsenUsed in Voyager and Enterprise My own AJ set is a combination of Georg Jensen reproductions, and original vintage Anton Michelsen soup spoons. These were more famously used in 2001: A Space Odyssey. I have a full service for 8.

Used in The Next Generation and Voyager

I am incredibly surprised I found a set of these, since I’ve only even encountered them on Star Trek or in museum collections! The seller had them in several different eBay lots, so my set isn’t perfectly even. I have five dinner forks, five dinner spoons, and eight knives. I’m still looking for the salad forks.

Max and Moritz Salt and Pepper Shakers designed by Wilhelm Wagenfeld for WMFUsed in The Original Series These cute mid century salt and pepper shakers were used in the episode, “The Man Trap,” and were a gift from my aunt. I have one set.

Dip Bowl by Carsten Jorgensen for Bodum

Used in The Next Generation

I found this dip/fondue/glögg bowl at a thrift shop in Göteborg. While I wish I could have found one in the silver/blue colorway that was used in TNG, the red and blue is still fun.

Suspension Chairs designed by Paul Boulva for ArtopexUsed in The Next Generation and Voyager These chairs are something I’ve always coveted and I was overjoyed when I finally found the manufacturer, and was even more excited when I saw Furnish Me Vintage had nine of them available for sale. I have two.

Tulip Chair 116 designed by Maurice Burke for ArkanaUsed in The Original Series and The Next GenerationI won this chair at an auction in Gothenburg, Sweden recently! I was surprised to see it here, since the designer is American and these chairs go for a LOT more money in the US than I won this one for. It’s common for Trekkies who acquire Burke chairs to paint them and add the headrest/beveled back details, but I have no plans to do so with mine.

Boby Cart designed by Joe ColomboUsed in The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Discovery My Boby Cart is shorter than the version that was used in Star Trek. I initially thought that the two-tier, like I have, was used in The Final Frontier, but now know that was actually a Giovanni Pelis cart. Eventually I’d like to own a three-tier Boby.

Arno Sconces by Ron Rezek

Used in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and The Next Generation

I’m really excited about these because they’re the first lighting pieces used in Trek that I’ve acquired. They’re going to be a project because I plan to strip the beige house paint that a previous owner covered them in, to uncover the white powder-coated metal underneath. I have two.
