Pendant Lamp by Robert Sonneman for Kovacs

Robert Sonneman is a prolific American lighting designer and founder of the Sonneman Design Group. This pendant lamp is evocative of a flying saucer, which is likely why it was selected for use in Star Trek. It was used in The Next Generation, as lighting for Riker’s quarters during the senior officers’ poker games. It’s interesting to note that this lamp is not present during any other scenes in Riker’s quarters. More recently, the poker lamp is alluded to in the Lower Decks episode, “The New Next Generation.”
