Turn Turn Shelves by Carlo Alessi for Sturm und Plastic

Designed 2003
No longer in production

Carlo Alessi was an Italian industrial designer, and the son of Giovanni Alessi, the founder of the Alessi design company. He’s best known as the owner of and heir to his fathers’ company from 1969 until 2009. His Turn Turn shelves for Sturm und Plastic, a now-defunct plastics subdivision of La Rosa Italy, are among Alessi’s least known works. The information we do have on these shelves comes from coverage of the Sturm and Plastic exhibition at the Milan International Furniture Fair 2006. They were used in the Enterprise episode, “The Aenar,” as set dressing for the Aenar dwellings below the surface of Andoria.
