Baker Furniture is an American furniture manufacturer, founded by Siebe Baker in 1890. Outside of furniture production, the company is known for establishing the Museum for Furniture Research in Michigan in 1941, which featured over 1,500 unique furnishings from the 16th to 20th centuries, and provided inspiration for Baker’s designers. The company’s stylistic output in the years following ranged in diversity from French Provincial to Danish Modern to Orientalism. This chair, in the Egyptian Revival style, was modeled after the Throne of Princess Sitamun, unearthed from the Tomb of Yuya and Thuya in 1905. In a really unusual choice of set decoration for a Federation space station, it was used in the Voyager episode, “Life Line,” in Dr. Louis Zimmerman’s lab on Jupiter Station.
