Tulip Midi Chair by Pierre Paulin for Artifort

Designed 1960
In production through Artifort

Pierre Paulin was a French industrial designer, best known for his futuristic chairs for Artifort. Several Pierre Paulin chairs were used in Star Trek, most of them in The Next Generation. The Tulip Midi (F549) appears in several crew quarters and in sick bay in The Next Generation. It seems natural, given how closely Burke’s tulip chair is associated with The Original Series, that TNG would utilize tulip chairs in their own set design. It was also used, less prominently, aboard the Vissian ship in the ENT episode, “Cogenitor.”

Used in:
The Next Generation
Enterprise
