Richard X. Zawitz is a Pittsbugh-based American sculptor. His Tangle sculpture was designed to be twisted and manipulated into a variety of shapes. It remains his best known work. It was used in several episodes of The Next Generation, as set dressing for Riker’s quarters. Later, several Tangle sculptures were used as shapeshifting aids in Odo’s quarters on Deep Space Nine.
