Anna Castelli Ferrieri was an Italian architect and industrial designer, and one of the founders of Kartell. She’s best known as one of the pioneering female architects of Italy and for her use of plastic in mainstream design. Her 4855 chair was used in several episodes of The Next Generation, in the Enterprise-D’s crew quarters, and, in “Booby Trap,” in Geordi La Forge’s holodeck simulation of Utopia Planitia.
