Navy Chair by Emeco

Designed 1944
In production through Emeco

Emeco is an American furniture manufacturer, whose Navy chair (model #1006) remains their best known work. It was originally designed for the U.S. Navy, for use on warships during World War II. The form and material are nearly identitical to an earlier chair (the Goodform #4295) produced by General Fireproofing Company in the 1930’s. While difficult to tell apart, the chair used in Star Trek was identified as an Emeco during the Modern Props De-Acquisition Auction of 2019, which featured several objects used in various Trek series and films. Emeco’s Navy chairs were used in First Contact, in Cochrane’s bar, and in the Enterprise episode, “Storm Front,” in the Nazi facility on alternate-timeline Earth.
