Pierre Paulin was a French industrial designer, best known for his futuristic chairs for Artifort. Several Pierre Paulin chairs were used in Star Trek, most of them in The Next Generation. His Groovy Chair (F580) was originally designed in 1964, though underwent several alterations before being released in it final form (F587), in the early 1970’s. It features a curvilinear design and aluminum floor caps. It was used in several episodes of The Next Generation, as furnishing for the Enterprise-D’s corridors and crew quarters.
