Pepe Cortes is a Spanish industrial and interior designer, and founder of the Grupo Abierto de Diseño, a Barcelona-based design group. His Jamaica Stool remains his most recognizable work. The high Jamaica stool was used in First Contact, in Zephram Cochrane’s favorite bar, and in the Voyager episodes, “Non Sequitor,” in Harry Kim’s San Francisco apartment, and “Life Line,” in Dr. Louis Zimmerman’s lab on Jupiter Station, while the low variation was used in the Enterprise episode, “The Augments,” in Arik Soong’s cell.
