Hans Coray was a Swiss artist and industrial designer, whose Landi Chair remains his best known work. It’s historically significant as one of the first successful chair designs using the then-new material of sheet aluminum. The Landi Chair is now part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Cooper Hewitt in NYC. It was used in First Contact, in the bar scenes with Zephram Cochrane, and the Deep Space Nine episode, “Shadowplay,” in the Yaderan settlement.
