Lollipop Chair by George Hunzinger

Designed c. 1880
No longer in production

George Hunzinger was a German-American furniture designer. Originally a cabinet maker from Württemberg, he emigrated to New York City in 1855 where he established a prosperous furniture manufacturing business and showroom. Much of Hunzinger’s work was inspired by the aesthetics of industrial age machines, featuring moveable parts and repetitive, linear patterns and motifs. His Lollipop chairs, named posthumously, were produced in several variations and can be found as dining, side, and rocking chairs. One Lollipop chair was used in the Picard episode, “Absolute Candor,” in the holodeck simulation of the Chateau Picard study on board La Sirena.
