Spix Lounge Chair by Jean-Louis Godivier for UP8
Designed 1980’s
No longer in production
Jean-Louis Godivier is a French architect, artist, and industrial designer. Closely associated with postmodernism, Godivier worked with Philippe Starck for several years before founding his own furniture studio, UP8. He’s best known for his work in interior architecture, which is characterized by unexpected spatial segmentation and playful geometry similar to his industrial design.
His Spix lounge chair appears but once in Star Trek, and then only as an LCARS image, as Data scrolls through wedding gift ideas for Miles O’Brien and Keiko Ishikawa in The Next Generation episode, “Data’s Day.”
