Burdick Group Table by Bruce Burdick for Herman Miller
Designed 1980
No longer in production
Bruce Burdick was an American industrial and exhibition designer and founder of the Burdick Group. His Burdick Group system, a series of customizable office furnishings, was his first contribution to Herman Miller, and remains his most memorable work. Time Magazine named the Burdick Group system one of the “Best of 1981” in design. The Burdick Group table was designed for office and conference room settings, and can be expanded to several different sizes and configurations.
In Star Trek, it was used in the Voyager episode, “Real Life,” as a dining table for the EMH’s holographic family home, and, more recently, in the Strange New Worlds episode, “Ad Astra Per Aspera,” as a desk for the office of Counselor Neera Ketoul.
