Achille Castiglioni was an Italian architect and industrial designer, known for his frequent collaborations with his brother Pier Giacomo, and their contributions to both space age and postmodern design. His Sancarlo armchair is one of his more understated works, with a basic tubing frame and upholstered cushions. A Sancarlo was used in The Next Generation episode, “The Dauphin,” in Salia and Anya’s guest quarters on the Enterprise-D.
