Today’s updates come from information and screencaps from Jörg Hillebrand at Ex Astris Scientia!

I’ve added a new page featuring Anna Castelli Ferrieri’s 4855 Chair (used in The Next Generation).

And two new screencaps to:

07.28.2021

Today, Star Trek + Design was featured in VISLA, a Seoul-based fashion, music, and culture publication!

It’s also been a big week and a deep rabbit hole for finding chairs used in Trek, and I’ve added 11 new items to the Seating page:

I was debating whether or not I should make a page for Giuseppe Terragni’s Follia chair, given that the designer was a part of the Fascist political machine during the Mussolini regime, and I’d never want to honor a fascist or their work. I ultimately decided to make the page, because any time I see a dealer selling his work online, they only ever mention his contributions to design, and never how he was a fascist sycophant, a coward, and a singularly reprehensible person. So I decided it was worthwhile to share his work so long as I could write his bio correctly.

On a lighter note, I also added new screencaps for three previously sourced objects:

I’ve added five new objects to the Lighting page, all of which were originally identified by Ex Astris Scientia:

I’ve added new pages featuring three identified objects:

07.19.2021

I’ve added pages featuring two newly identified objects:

I added a new screencap to the Calacatta Gray Teacup and Saucer by Sasaki page to reflect it’s use in the DS9 episode, “Ties of Blood and Water,” and another to the Balzo Chair and Sofa designed by Massimo Iosa Ghini for Moroso to reflect it’s use in DS9.

I also spent the day integrating the Mugs + Teacups and Glassware pages into a single Glassware page. I used the same, kind of annoying, method that I used for creating the recent Seating page, so if anyone finds any issues or bad links, please feel free to email me at eno@star-trek.design so I can fix it.

07.18.2021

I didn’t update the News page at the time, but the other day I added a page featuring:

Today I’ve added one new page featuring:

And added a new screencap to the Acrylic Serving Dish by Tupperware page to reflect its use in the TNG episode, “The Child.”

I managed to find a way to circumvent the 40-item limit on portfolio pages, and have condensed the various chairs pages into a single Seating page. Unfortunately, the process is a bit tedious, so to make things easier on myself, I kept the original item page urls which is why the they still display the original “Stools + Dining Chairs,” “Sofas + Lounge Chairs,” etc. page locations. Maybe I’ll reorganize these eventually, but for now I just wanted a user-friendly way to navigate Seating without having four different category pages for it. I also know the text formatting is a bit different than the other pages, which bugs me too, but I haven’t figured out a way to adjust it to make it identical to the formatting on the pages that still use the portfolio template. Eventually, I plan on doing this for Glassware as well, and to reintegrate Mugs + Teacups back into the Glassware page.

07.13.2021

I’ve added pages featuring three newly identified objects:

And added a new screencap to the Jamaica Stool designed by Pepe Cortés for Knoll page to reflect it’s use in Enterprise.

I’m also trying to figure out ways of restructuring the way to navigate through Sourced Objects. I use Squarespace as my web host and have been using their Portfolio option for the Sourced Objects pages. I’ve, unfortunately, hit the cap on the amount of items I can list under the Stools + Dining Chairs. I could give stools their own category, but that’d only free up 7 items worth of space, and is only a temporary solution. Please bear with any annoying changes that take place over the next few days while I figure out how to handle this.

 07.12.2021

I’ve decided to create a blog-style “news” page for Star Trek + Design so recurring viewers have a quick place to look for any new objects that have been identified or content that has been changed!

The biggest change, today, is the site header. Jonathan, from the typeface design firm, Hoefler & Co., reached out to me a while ago to share that their Tungsten font was used for the new LCARS interfaces in Star Trek Picard. He generously sent me the font files, and I used them to update the Star Trek + Design header. I was previously using Okuda.

I’ve also added pages featuring three newly identified objects:

And a new screencap to the Capisco Chair designed by Peter Opsvik for HÅG page to reflect it’s use in Enterprise.
